Responsibilities
- Define architectural direction and oversee implementation of large-scale, cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Drive improvements to development processes, code quality standards, and engineering best practices across teams.
- Participate in technical decisions affecting long-term strategic direction and scalability.
- Mentor team members and serve as a technical resource to support professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Design expressive, user-friendly APIs for SDK developers.
- Deliver high-quality features with peers and cross-functional teams.
- Improve SDK functionality and developer experience.
- Work on cross-platform implementations underlying the frameworks to ensure seamless integration.
- Debug, profile, and optimize performance issues.
- Develop solutions integrating Mapbox Navigation, Maps, and Search SDKs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated history of shipping complex Android applications and SDKs.
- Experience with native Android technologies such as Kotlin and Java.
- Experience with testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Strong focus on usability and user experience.
- Interest in building frameworks and developer tools.
- Readiness to work deeply in the Android stack and navigate AOSP code when needed.
- Experience debugging and profiling performance issues is a plus.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn C++ is a plus.
- Ability to use AI thoughtfully in engineering workflows, including design, development, and decision-making.
