Responsibilities

  • Define the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for neuromorphic driver and firmware systems while contributing hands-on to implementation.
  • Architect, develop, and optimize device drivers and firmware covering command submission, execution control, memory mapping, data movement, interrupts, power management, reset, and recovery.
  • Define hardware/software interfaces with hardware architects and lead software bring-up from pre-silicon modeling, simulation, emulation, or FPGA through post-silicon power-on and tuning.
  • Own production readiness across security, reliability, diagnosability, serviceability, validation, and field support.
  • Collaborate with runtime, compiler, application, validation, customer, and external partner teams to translate workload and platform requirements into software capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership, establish engineering practices, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience developing maintainable, production-grade systems software in C/C++, with Python experience for tooling, automation, and validation.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and shipping production device drivers, device firmware, or comparable low-level systems software for accelerators, GPUs, or complex hardware devices.
  • 5+ years of experience leading driver or firmware subsystem architecture and design, including technical direction and implementation guidance.
  • 5+ years of experience defining hardware/software interfaces and leading bring-up from pre-silicon platforms through post-silicon validation and tuning.
  • 5+ years of experience designing production-ready driver or firmware systems covering security, reliability, recovery, tracing, telemetry, and diagnostics.
  • 5+ years of experience mentoring engineers and leading delivery across hardware, firmware, systems software, and validation teams.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience using agentic software engineering with AI agents to design, implement, test, and review production code.
  • Preferred experience includes Linux device drivers, embedded or real-time Linux, RTOS firmware, accelerator runtimes and programming models, platform security, multi-chip accelerators, unconventional AI hardware, hardware/software co-design, performance modeling, robotics software ecosystems such as ROS 2, and open-source contributions.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package including pay, stock bonuses, health benefits, retirement, and vacation.
  • Hybrid work model splitting time between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.
  • Primary locations are Santa Clara, California, and Hillsboro, Oregon.
  • United States annual salary range is $201,580.00-$284,580.00.
