Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Integrate 5G modem modules into OpenWrt-based router and gateway platforms.
- Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers for USB and PCIe modem interfaces.
- Implement and optimize QMI, RMNET, and AT command interfaces.
- Configure network interfaces, routing policies, and failover mechanisms.
- Develop connection-management daemons for automatic reconnection and band selection.
- Integrate SMS, GPS/GNSS, and voice functionality where applicable.
- Optimize modem-interface throughput and latency.
- Perform modem firmware updates and version management.
- Debug connectivity issues across RF, baseband, driver, and user-space layers.
- Collaborate with hardware teams on antenna design validation and RF performance.
- Create integration documentation and developer guides.
Requirements
- 4+ years of embedded Linux development experience.
- 2+ years of experience with OpenWrt or similar distributions.
- At least 2 years of cellular modem integration experience; 5+ years across multiple chipset vendors is preferred.
- Experience with Linux kernel development, including drivers, device trees, and kernel modules.
- Experience with the OpenWrt/LEDE build system and package development.
- Experience with QMI, RMNET, AT commands, and USB/PCIe modem interface drivers.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded Linux systems.
- Experience with cross-compilation toolchains and embedded build systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes Qualcomm SDX-series modules, Quectel or Telit modules, ModemManager, VPN integration, eSIM/eUICC provisioning, or multi-WAN failover using mwan3.

- Salary range is $191,000-$239,000 annually for Santa Clara, with an annual short-term variable compensation opportunity.
