Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of core platform services, foundational systems, APIs, and shared primitives.
- Build reusable platform capabilities that increase the leverage of product and AI engineers.
- Define architecture for delivering capabilities across SaaS, single-tenant enterprise, and government-cloud environments.
- Partner with product, design, and AI engineering leaders to translate customer needs into platform investments.
- Drive cross-team initiatives that improve product velocity, system reliability, and application consistency.
- Own standards for service design, data modeling, and platform integration patterns.
- Maintain and evolve the internal developer platform, including deployment tooling and agentic engineering capabilities.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and raise the organization’s platform engineering standards.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building product-facing platforms or foundational application services.
- Strong experience designing APIs, services, and shared systems for other engineers to build on.
- Strong fluency with modern cloud platforms, AWS preferred, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams without direct ownership of those teams.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to contribute to and review complex codebases.
- Strong product judgment and experience shipping platform capabilities that deliver customer outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for alignment across engineering, product, and design.
- Experience building platforms for AI-native products, including agent frameworks, model orchestration, or LLM-powered application surfaces, is a bonus.
- Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS and single-tenant enterprise deployments is a bonus.
- Experience as a founding or early platform engineer at a vertical SaaS or enterprise AI company is a bonus.
