Responsibilities
- Provide architectural leadership for complex distributed systems, driving decisions around resilience, scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Design and deliver scalable enterprise systems for high-volume, customer-facing lending environments.
- Build and operate cloud-native solutions on AWS using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Own solutions across the full software lifecycle, from design and implementation through production operation and continuous improvement.
- Lead engineering standards and best practices across architecture, code quality, automated testing, security, observability, and delivery.
- Mentor engineers and uplift technical capability across the engineering chapter.
- Develop messaging-based systems using Kafka and RabbitMQ and apply Domain-Driven Design.
- Manage containerisation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, tracing, and system reliability.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot microservices, with openness to evolving toward .NET-based architectures.
- Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, resilient enterprise systems in high-volume, customer-facing environments.
- Strong experience with event-driven systems, microservices, and Domain-Driven Design.
- Experience building and operating AWS solutions using EC2, Lambda, ECS/Fargate, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation or CDK.
- Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, security, observability, and continuous improvement practices.
- Hands-on engineering leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and setting technical direction and standards.
- Experience with technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub Actions, TypeScript, React, Next.js, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, JMeter, and BlazeMeter is beneficial.
