Java Developer for Machinery Control Systems

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Machinery Control Systems and On-Board Training software.
- Design, develop, test, install, and maintain software and supporting products.
- Perform Java development and Java 8-to-17 migration work.
- Debug, investigate, document, and resolve software and system problems.
- Provide remote and onsite technical support.
- Prepare and maintain software requirements and technical documentation, including user manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
- Interface with Navy engineers, support contractors, ship personnel, OEMs, and engineering management.
- Participate in special projects and support the full software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of Java developer experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science.
- CompTIA Security+ certification.
- DoD Secret security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship is required for most positions due to security clearance requirements.
- Ability to work daily onsite at the Philadelphia Naval Yard.
- Preferred experience with Java 17–25, Java 8-to-17 migration, and large legacy Java codebases of 300,000 or more lines of code.
- Preferred knowledge of PLC I/O mapping, ladder logic, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix, and SCADA systems.
- Preferred familiarity with FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, PIMCS, CMMI Level 3 or equivalent, SonarQube test-coverage metrics, and Linux.
