Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end reference architecture for the engineering platform across application, data, AI/ML, and infrastructure layers.
- Make binding architectural decisions and author RFCs, ADRs, design documents, standards, and technical governance practices.
- Lead platform-wide design reviews, architecture forums, implementation of complex platform components, and troubleshooting of distributed-system failures.
- Write and review production-quality TypeScript and/or Python code for shared infrastructure, API frameworks, data pipelines, and AI/ML integration layers.
- Architect AWS-based lakehouse, event-streaming, serverless, multi-account, API, security, and observability solutions.
- Define integration and reliability patterns for Bedrock agents, SageMaker, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and agentic workflows.
- Influence engineering leadership and cross-functional partners, mentor senior and lead engineers, support hiring, and strengthen documentation culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least five years as a hands-on architect or principal-level IC on AWS-based platforms.
- Proven ownership and accountability for full-platform architecture decisions in production.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS serverless architecture, multi-account governance, IAM, infrastructure as code, and cloud operations.
- Experience designing S3-based lakehouses, streaming pipelines, analytics platforms, data governance, and event-driven systems.
- Practical experience integrating Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, LLM/ML services, agentic workflows, and RAG architectures into production applications.
- Expertise in REST and GraphQL API architecture, frontend platform architecture, security architecture, and distributed observability.
- Strong written and verbal communication, architectural governance, technical leadership, and influence without authority.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, financial-services experience, AWS certifications, data mesh experience, responsible AI experience, CI/CD platform experience, open standards or open-source contributions, and GraphQL federation familiarity.
