Responsibilities
- Ship production code as part of a product engineering team from the first pull request through deployment.
- Build user-facing experiences in React and TypeScript for caregivers and senior living communities.
- Develop backend services in Java supporting care workflows, notifications, and customer integrations.
- Write tests, participate in code reviews, and iterate based on feedback.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to scope, build, and deliver features.
- Learn to build and operate reliable software used in real care situations.
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals in at least one of TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or Python, with willingness to learn across the stack.
- Evidence of building projects through coursework, personal projects, open source, internships, bootcamps, or self-directed work.
- Familiarity with web fundamentals including APIs, HTTP, and databases.
- Curiosity, initiative, willingness to learn quickly, and ability to act on feedback.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a code-review environment.
- Interest in building technology for underserved populations.
- Preferred: experience with React, Node.js, or a JVM language.
- Preferred: exposure to SQL or other databases.
- Preferred: experience with Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI development tools and ability to review generated code.
- Preferred: a project the candidate is excited to demonstrate and interest in healthcare, aging, or mission-driven technology.
