Responsibilities
- Define service-level objectives and indicators for services on GCP.
- Ensure security and compliance are built into critical business processes.
- Manage vulnerability and patch posture for services.
- Establish a blameless root-cause analysis practice.
- Build and standardize observability for critical services.
- Track performance and resource metrics across all services.
- Improve batch job reliability and support workflow orchestration.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries.
- Analyze client-generated workloads for resource consumption.
- Establish alerting and runbook standards for on-call engineers.
- Troubleshoot issues across the technology stack.
- Enhance CI/CD processes for safer delivery paths.
- Inform capacity planning and cost attribution.
- Continuously improve reliability practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in SRE, software engineering, or systems/operations roles.
- Solid understanding of systems and application design.
- Proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem.
- Experience with cloud services, preferably GCP/GKE.
- Familiarity with observability tools and practices.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL tuning.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation.
- Understanding of operational security for production systems.
- Familiarity with SLOs/SLIs and a desire to build that practice.
- Collaborative working style with strong problem-solving skills.
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
