Responsibilities
- Own and enhance distributed systems in Prefect Cloud.
- Apply expertise in query engines and data processing to manage work across the platform.
- Make technical judgments on prototyping and tradeoffs.
- Work directly from product and customer context without a dedicated PM.
- Utilize AI-powered development tools effectively.
- Write maintainable code and participate in on-call and incident response.
- Raise the technical bar through design feedback and mentoring.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience in back-end or systems engineering.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Proficiency in designing or extending query engines or analytical databases.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science and distributed systems.
- Ability to write production-level Python code.
- Strong product instincts and comfort in a fast-moving environment.
- Curiosity and a pattern of expanding ownership in problem-solving.
- Effective communication of technical tradeoffs.
