Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, test, and release C#/.NET cloud microservices for device management, telemetry, digital twins, messaging, container deployment, and AI-model management.
- Apply domain-driven, CQRS, and event-driven patterns with idempotent message handling and JWT claims-based authorization.
- Maintain data flows across NATS JetStream, PostgreSQL with EF Core, Apache IoTDB, and object storage, including resumable uploads for large files.
- Publish documented REST APIs using consistent OpenAPI and Swagger documentation.
- Develop C# and Python device libraries exposing Advantech hardware capabilities such as sensors, GPIO/DIO, watchdogs, thermal protection, and DAQ modules.
- Integrate native hardware SDKs through C# P/Invoke and Python native bindings while isolating driver failures with dedicated threads and timeouts.
- Maintain consistent C# and Python APIs, semantic versioning, migration guides, and release notes.
- Build .NET edge SDKs and reference applications for Modbus devices, I/O modules, DAQ modules, and sensors.
- Generate and validate DTDL v3 digital-twin schemas and configuration and command data.
- Implement local buffering, historical resynchronization, and chunked retransmission over NATS for outage resilience.
- Package edge applications as Docker Compose containers for Ubuntu, NVIDIA Jetson arm64, and Windows targets.
- Extend the SDK to new integration areas such as ROS 2 robotics.
- Maintain specified test coverage, run hardware regression testing, implement fail-safe behavior, review pull requests, and write design documentation.
- Collaborate with product managers, solution architects, QA, and application engineers using Azure DevOps and quarterly release planning.
- Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex within a reviewed engineering workflow.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of professional C#/.NET development experience on .NET 8 or later, including async/await with cancellation, dependency injection, and resource cleanup.
- Production Python 3 experience including packaging, distribution, type hints, pytest, and calling native C libraries.
- Production experience building and operating message-driven microservices with NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ; REST APIs; PostgreSQL with EF Core; and Kubernetes containers.
- Hands-on hardware-facing experience with native interop, P/Invoke, Python ctypes or CFFI, C or C++, Linux device access, or industrial I/O.
- Practical experience with at least one of Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC UA, or MQTT.
- Experience designing a library or SDK consumed by other teams, including API design, semantic versioning, backward compatibility, documentation, and samples.
- Comfort with Docker, systemd, and debugging remote devices over SSH.
- Working knowledge of domain-driven design or clean architecture and unit and integration testing.
- Clear written English for specifications, pull-request descriptions, and design reviews.
- Preferred qualifications include ABP Framework, NATS JetStream, Apache IoTDB or InfluxDB, Advantech SUSI/EAPI, NVIDIA Jetson, arm64 cross-builds, DTDL, Azure Digital Twins, Go, ROS 2, Helm, OpenTelemetry, Azure DevOps pipelines, and production use of reviewed AI coding workflows.
Benefits
- End-to-end ownership of an industrial IoT platform from board-level drivers to cloud APIs.
- Hands-on work with Advantech industrial PCs, I/O, and DAQ hardware.
- Opportunity to lead a major SDK or platform feature end to end within six months and become the go-to engineer for device library and SDK issues.
- Modern engineering practices including test-first development, reviewed pull requests, and AI-assisted coding.
- The platform releases approximately once per quarter.
