Responsibilities
- Define the long-term architectural vision, roadmap, and engineering standards for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms.
- Lead multi-quarter modernization initiatives moving foundational services to resilient, containerized cloud environments.
- Direct distributed architecture and technical integration between Bitstamp’s exchange backend and Robinhood’s global infrastructure.
- Design self-healing systems and intelligent automation to reduce operational toil and technical debt.
- Own ambiguous, high-impact technical initiatives from inception through production.
- Mentor senior engineers, lead architectural reviews, and establish engineering best practices.
- Support high-severity incidents, lead post-mortems, and implement safeguards for continuous platform resilience.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant backend and distributed-systems engineering experience.
- Proven experience operating as a technical lead or Staff-level engineer in high-scale environments.
- Advanced expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and enterprise-scale AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
- Deep understanding of high-concurrency, low-latency backend architectures, event-driven systems, fault tolerance, and data consistency models.
- Ability to independently deliver ambiguous, organization-wide technical initiatives and high-impact business outcomes.
- Strong communication and influence skills for aligning senior engineering and product stakeholders across geographies.
- Systems-thinking and operational experience supporting 24/7 financial exchange infrastructure.
