Responsibilities

  • Research, implement, and benchmark neural rendering methods for realistic construction-site imagery.
  • Train models on real-world fleet data and evaluate visual fidelity, temporal consistency, and render speed.
  • Integrate neural rendering outputs into simulation pipelines for perception and planning teams.
  • Build metrics and tooling to compare rendered scenes with fleet data and assess transfer to autonomy performance.
  • Identify and address neural-rendering failure modes involving dynamic objects, deformable terrain, dust, and harsh lighting.
  • Document findings, limitations, and recommendations for replacing traditional simulation assets.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, computer graphics, robotics, or a related field, or bringing equivalent research or industry experience.
  • Strong Python skills and hands-on PyTorch experience or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of rendering pipelines, scene representations, camera models, and coordinate systems.
  • Familiarity with neural scene representations such as NeRF, Gaussian splatting, or neural radiance fields.
  • Comfort working with messy real-world construction-site data.
  • Preferred: published work or substantial project experience in neural rendering, novel view synthesis, or differentiable rendering.
  • Preferred: experience with Unreal, Unity, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, or similar simulation engines.
  • Preferred: background in autonomous-vehicle simulation or synthetic data generation.
  • Preferred: familiarity with C++ and GPU programming using CUDA, OpenGL, or Vulkan.
