Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, operate, and support services within a cross-functional domain team.
- Develop and maintain distributed, event-driven, headless, API-first backend systems in production.
- Extend and safely replace existing banking systems while preserving business logic and reliability.
- Design clear boundaries around complex banking domains and maintain backward-compatible API changes.
- Use separate models for reads, writes, and audit workflows when the trade-off justifies the added complexity.
- Own cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability for production services.
- Use AI to understand unfamiliar code, explore designs, generate and review implementations, and reduce routine work.
- Communicate technical reasoning, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly with colleagues and clients.
Requirements
- Experience working as a software engineer across more than one language or platform, with the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
- Production experience with distributed, event-driven backend systems where correctness and uptime are important.
- Strong systems thinking, including understanding coupling, change impact, service boundaries, and inter-service communication.
- Comfort working in and understanding existing codebases that were not written by you.
- Ability to use AI deliberately by providing context, directing work across unfamiliar codebases, and evaluating generated output critically.
- Experience with cloud, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability; equivalent experience on any major cloud is welcome.
- Ability to challenge colleagues or clients respectfully and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
