Base Salary
$177k - $365k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and operate Edge systems using in-house implementations, Envoy, and multiple CDN and DNS providers.
- Lead automation traffic management for bots and crawlers at scale.
- Design and implement Envoy request-processing logic for routing, traffic classification, and enforcement.
- Write, review, and maintain code in C++, Go, and Python.
- Collaborate with CDN vendors and internal platform teams on integration points.
- Gather internal user needs and translate them into a prioritized rate-limiting roadmap.
- Drive distributed-systems architectures from proposal through proof of concept to production.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and coaching.
- Use AI for prototyping, analysis, and operational tasks while validating correctness and production readiness.
- Participate in on-call, incident response, post-mortems, and reliability improvements.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in infrastructure, networking, or platform engineering focused on traffic-management systems such as CDNs, HTTP gateways, service meshes, or load balancers.
- Proficiency in C++, Go, or Python and experience developing Layer 7 HTTP proxies such as Envoy, Nginx, Varnish, or Traefik.
- Deep understanding of network protocols across L3-L7 and hands-on experience debugging production networking issues at scale.
- Experience with bot detection, scraping prevention, or automation traffic management is preferred.
- Experience gathering requirements, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and delivering technical plans.
- Proven ability to design distributed-systems architectures and take them from proposal through production.
- Demonstrated experience using AI to accelerate engineering workflows and validating the resulting quality and correctness.
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
