Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop backend software for high-volume payment processing.
- Lead the architecture of distributed, event-driven, microservices-based systems supporting real-time financial transactions.
- Integrate payment gateways, banks, card networks, and alternative payment methods, including settlement, reconciliation, and fraud detection workflows.
- Design and develop secure, scalable RESTful APIs using OAuth2, JWT, and SSO mechanisms.
- Build and optimize cloud solutions using AWS services and collaborate with DevOps teams on production systems, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, scalability, and reliability.
- Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases, including transaction management, database tuning, and high-availability strategies.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, document designs and requirements, and drive engineering process improvements.
Requirements
- The professional must be based in Colombia.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in backend software development.
- Proven working experience in the FinTech or Payments industry.
- Deep knowledge of Java 11+ and strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud (Netflix OSS), and JPA ORM.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven software design patterns, microservices architecture, and complex system architecture.
- Experience with payment flows, settlement, reconciliation, fraud detection, payment system integrations, and financial institutions.
- Expertise designing secure RESTful APIs and knowledge of OAuth2 Security, JWT, and SSO mechanisms.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
- Experience with transaction management, database tuning, PostgreSQL, MySQL or NoSQL stores, high-availability strategies, and high-volume transaction environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Git and strong software development, coding, optimization, and unit test coverage practices.
- Advanced English and fluent or native Spanish are mandatory; the CV or résumé must be submitted in English.
- Experience leading teams and architecting payment systems is desirable.
