Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and support Java backend services using Spring Boot.
- Deliver complex backend features end-to-end from design and implementation through production support.
- Build event-driven and asynchronous systems using AWS messaging services.
- Design and maintain APIs, service integrations, and internal platform capabilities.
- Use Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, and Amazon DynamoDB to build resilient distributed systems.
- Deploy and operate services across multiple AWS regions with a focus on availability, resiliency, and fault tolerance.
- Participate in architectural discussions and influence technical decisions.
- Conduct code reviews and establish expectations for quality, maintainability, testing, and correctness.
- Mentor Dev 2 and junior engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead production incident investigation and resolution.
- Reduce technical debt and improve system performance, reliability, and operability.
- Document designs, decisions, and operational considerations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing backend applications in Java.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience building and operating services with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks.
- Experience designing and operating service-oriented or microservice architectures in production.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, and transactional behavior.
- Ability to independently deliver complex backend features through design, implementation, and production support.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and backend engineering best practices.
- Experience working in agile, collaborative engineering teams.
- Preferred experience with Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, Amazon DynamoDB, multi-region AWS deployments, and Spring Boot services in AWS production environments.
- Preferred familiarity with cloud-native deployment practices, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production on-call support.
Benefits
- Base pay range is $114,100.00 to $182,600.00 per year.
