Responsibilities
- Design and build security architectures for the organization.
- Implement network and computer security controls and support compliance with information security policies and procedures.
- Initiate security response procedures, resolve incident tickets, and maintain CSIRT documentation and procedures.
- Write code or scripts to automate, monitor, and test security solutions.
- Design, configure, install, and maintain cybersecurity threat defense capabilities, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Maintain cybersecurity requirements for network, system, and application technologies.
- Deploy software fixes, patches, and vulnerability remediations with system engineers.
- Manage SSL certificates, PGP and private keys, system passwords, antivirus, spyware and malware solutions, and identity management.
- Review operating system and network changes and provide guidance or training to junior personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or a related BS/BA discipline is typically required.
- Generally 2–5 years of experience in a related field, or 2–4 years with an MS/MA.
- At least 2 years of cybersecurity engineering experience is preferred.
- Security-focused certification such as Security+ or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) is required in some areas.
- Ability to work with complex security, data analysis, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and access management tasks.
