Simulator & Debug Tools Lead
Normal Computing CorporationResponsibilities
- Own the architecture and roadmap of the hardware simulator, including accuracy, performance, and coverage of new hardware features.
- Ensure simulator behavior, state, and memory semantics are accurate enough for compiler and runtime development.
- Build debuggers, tracers, and profilers that accelerate bug discovery and resolution.
- Partner with design verification and bring-up teams to correlate the simulator with RTL, FPGA prototypes, and silicon.
- Create simulator benchmarks and traces from LLM inference workloads.
- Make tradeoffs among simulator fidelity, speed, and tooling investment and communicate them to compiler and hardware teams.
Requirements
- Experience building or leading development of hardware simulators, including cycle-accurate or functional simulators, for ASICs or novel compute architectures.
- Experience building debuggers, tracers, or profilers that were adopted by other engineers.
- Systems and compiler knowledge sufficient to simulate both the software stack and hardware.
- Ability to work with evolving hardware and evolve the simulator accordingly.
- Fluency in C++ or Rust and familiarity with Python.
- Experience with in-memory compute or other non-von-Neumann architectures is a bonus.
- Experience using simulators for architectural or compiler decisions, beyond post-hoc validation, is a bonus.
- Experience with open-source simulation, tracing, or hardware-tooling communities is a bonus.
- Background spanning pre-silicon simulation and post-silicon bring-up is a bonus.
About Normal Computing Corporation
At Normal, we're rewriting AI foundations to advance the frontier of reasoning and reliability in the physical world. We are tackling problems across semiconductors and industrials with a mix of interdisciplinary approaches across the full stack: from probabilistic software infrastructure and algorithms to hardware and physics, enabling AI that can reason and understand its own limits. We understand that our technology is only as powerful as the people behind it. Every employee drives significant impact within our products, often working directly with customers and embedding across our tightly-knit team. Our team members are driven by curiosity and passion for solving some of the most challenging problems in the world of atoms. Normal was founded in 2022 by engineers and scientists that pioneered industry-leading Physics + ML tools for next-gen AI at Google Brain and Google X.
