Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
- Optimize code and systems for hyper-scale data processing and high-throughput workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, in-service updates, and resilience to network partitions.
- Implement load-shedding, throttling, rate-limiting, data replication, synchronization, and correctness validation.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, alerts, and monitoring mechanisms for system health.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in operational support rotations, and guide incident response and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud infrastructure compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation for patching, updating, and rolling back applications under change-management plans.
- Coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor junior team members, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Experience leading development and beginning architecture of scalable distributed systems.
- Ability to design systems for horizontal and vertical scaling, elasticity, high throughput, durability, availability, and service-level objectives.
- Experience with replication, failover, network-partition handling, load-shedding, throttling, rate-limiting, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, and fault-injection testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot active production systems and participate in incident response and operational support.
- Experience implementing security controls, remediation plans, cloud compliance practices, and infrastructure-as-code automation.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, mentor engineers, and contribute to hiring decisions.
