Base Salary
$170k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Improve scale, reliability, performance, database contention, memory pressure, throughput, and cost efficiency as load grows.
- Build shared platform primitives, contracts, and extension points and migrate existing consumers onto them.
- Own how work is defined, scheduled, retried, observed, and executed across the product.
- Create instrumentation that makes long-running jobs and failures traceable for customers and engineers.
- Solve foundational problems at system seams involving input mapping, integrations, data access, credit accounting, and usage accounting.
- Set technical direction and raise engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, and durable system improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- Demonstrated expertise in scale, reliability, and performance or in building internal-facing platforms used by engineers across a company.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, queuing, backpressure, failure recovery, and underlying data models.
- Ability to design platforms as products, own technical direction, make product judgment calls, communicate nuanced ideas clearly, and collaborate effectively.
- Familiarity with the listed technology stack or the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
- Preferred experience with workflow engines, orchestration systems, durable execution frameworks, company-wide platform migrations, multi-tenant systems, production LLM or agent execution paths, search infrastructure, large result sets, or high-volume ingestion.
