Base Salary
$160k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product, design, and customers to define what to build and create clear technical plans from ambiguous requirements.
- Design, build, and ship production features across the full stack, including APIs, data models, services, and user interfaces.
- Make architecture decisions balancing near-term delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
- Develop LLM features, retrieval, agents, tool-calling flows including MCP, scoped permissions, and failure recovery.
- Create evaluations from real user questions to measure prompts and model changes before release.
- Protect AI features against prompt injection, personal-data leaks, and inaccurate answers.
- Monitor and trace production systems, including AI cost and latency, and debug and resolve failures.
- Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor while maintaining quality, testing, and reliability.
- Improve engineering practices through code review, knowledge sharing, and workflow improvements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience shipping customer-facing production products.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals with Python, FastAPI or similar, React, TypeScript, relational databases, SQL, and containerized cloud services.
- Strong system-design capabilities including data modeling, API design, and reliable, fast, and secure production systems.
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features involving context engineering, prompts, retrieval, tools, memory, evaluations, model-failure handling, and AI system architecture.
- Ability to use AI-native development workflows with planning, agent context, incremental reviewable changes, and tests as a safety net.
- Strong product sense and ability to understand user problems and challenge product decisions when appropriate.
- High emotional intelligence, clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and comfort working independently in ambiguous environments.
- Nice to have demonstrated use of AI tools to improve productivity and curiosity about applying generative AI to daily workflows.
