Responsibilities
- Design and implement manual and automated test cases for embedded software in DECT and WiFi handsets.
- Develop and maintain test environments and test automation frameworks.
- Implement automated tests in Python and execute manual and automated test cases.
- Evaluate test objects for functionality, scalability, performance, reliability, and quality.
- Detect, analyze, and report defects in Jira.
- Set up and maintain test objects in a laboratory environment.
- Create test plans and test cases for complex systems with multiple integrations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and systematic troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues across teams and countries to understand requirements and build test suites.
- Mentor Test Engineers and stay current with relevant technologies and technical developments.
- Conduct work in alignment with Ascom’s values, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
- 6–10 years of experience in a similar software testing role.
- 3–5 years of experience working in agile development and fast-paced environments.
- Strong expertise in test equipment, test engineering, and software testing methodologies.
- Experience with test planning, test case creation, test automation tools, and test automation frameworks.
- Solid experience implementing tests in Python.
- Experience testing complex systems with multiple integrations.
- Knowledge of telecommunications, IT, IP networks, and WiFi.
- Strong product-quality mindset and ability to identify defects in test objects.
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Good knowledge of systematic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with standard software testing processes; ISTQB Foundation certification is a plus.
