Responsibilities
- Extend backend systems to support additional banking features, increased usage volume, and internal company functions.
- Maintain the deposit account and debit card offering powered through a Banking as a Service partner.
- Design architecture for additional financial services and personalized product experiences.
- Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to build new financial offerings.
- Establish software processes, patterns, and tools with backend engineering peers.
- Maintain testing and observability systems that support stability and proactively alert on issues involving internal or third-party users.
- Work with leadership to plan engineering execution across multiple time horizons.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years of experience using Python and Postgres.
- Experience building backend systems that increase in complexity over time.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and developer productivity.
- Product-minded approach with strong critical thinking and tradeoff skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional process leadership abilities.
- Bonus experience with GraphQL, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, and pub/sub models such as Kafka.
