Responsibilities

  • Architect and govern a unified enterprise observability framework for metrics, logs, traces, and events.
  • Lead FOAK observability implementations and convert emerging technologies into secure, repeatable production patterns.
  • Define telemetry, data-retention, high-cardinality, and observability cost-management standards.
  • Establish SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and reliability practices.
  • Lead P1/P2 incident war rooms, technical escalations, and evidence-based root cause analyses.
  • Reduce detection and recovery times and alert noise through event correlation, dynamic thresholds, and dependency mapping.
  • Drive Observability-as-Code, infrastructure automation, monitoring-agent deployment, telemetry-collector configuration, and self-healing workflows.
  • Design observability for Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
  • Integrate observability platforms with ITSM, Netcool, and delivery pipelines.
  • Lead knowledge-transfer programs, vendor transitions, operational-readiness handovers, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of total IT experience, including 5–7 years as a Lead Architect, SRE, or Principal Observability Engineer in a large enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with IBM Instana, Grafana Enterprise and Alloy, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Telegraf, and InfluxDB.
  • Experience with SolarWinds, Netcool, Elastic, or Splunk and migrations from legacy monitoring to proactive observability platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Experience with Linux/RHEL, Windows Server, VMware, Citrix VDI, load balancers, and edge proxies.
  • Automation experience with Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, webhooks, and CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, ITIL 4, and advanced major incident management.
  • Experience building scalable, secure telemetry pipelines and time-series databases.
  • Experience leading FOAK rollouts and complex vendor or operations transition programs.
  • Preferred certifications include CKA, AWS or Azure Cloud Architect, and APM or observability vendor certifications.
