Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and operate backend services against latency, availability, and cost targets.
  • Build typed, versioned API contracts and evolve them without breaking clients.
  • Own authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access control across the portal.
  • Ship end-to-end features from APIs to the user interface when required.
  • Integrate the application with internal services, including agent services, with response streaming, timeouts, cancellation, and partial-failure handling.
  • Own analytical read paths, including data modeling, query planning, pagination, batching, caching, and consistency trade-offs.
  • Profile services, reduce tail latency, optimize cost per request, and conduct load and capacity testing.
  • Implement metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, alerts, dashboards, safe rollouts, feature flags, canary releases, and rollback procedures.
  • Diagnose reliability issues, participate in on-call, and lead incident response and blameless postmortems.
  • Write design documents, evaluate alternatives with data and prototypes, review code, pair with teammates, and raise standards for testing, observability, and rollout safety.
  • Use coding agent harnesses and critically review generated code against tests, types, and contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or another quantitative field; a master's degree or PhD is a plus.
  • Relevant experience designing, building, and operating distributed backend services in production across coding standards, code review, builds, automated testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Track record of delivering features end to end and owning them in production.
  • Experience designing software for reliability and scale across new and existing systems.
  • Deep command of at least one high-performance language such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, C++, or C#, including memory, concurrency, and runtime models.
  • Ability to work productively in Python.
  • Hands-on production observability experience with metrics, tracing, logging, SLOs, and tools such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Experience with profiling, query optimization, caching strategies, and load testing.
  • Production depth in distributed systems, including timeouts, retries, idempotency, partial failure, streaming, and tail-latency decisions.
  • Experience delivering full-stack software to production with TypeScript and a modern web framework.
  • Day-to-day fluency with Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex and critical review of generated code.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to discuss architecture and trade-offs in depth.
  • Advanced English communication; Spanish is a plus.
  • Nice-to-have experience with OLAP, columnar stores, semantic layers, data platform integration, LLM or agent service integration, B2B or multi-tenant products, cloud platforms, containers, and Kubernetes.

Benefits

  • Performance-based bonus, subject to applicable rules.
  • Attendance bonus, subject to applicable rules.
  • Private pension plan, meal allowance, health, dental, and life insurance.
  • Casual office and dress code, days off, and transport allowance.
  • Medicines discounts, WellHub partnership, childcare subsidies, and discounts on Ambev products.
  • Clube Ben partnership, scholarship, school materials assurance, and language and training platforms.
