Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reliable, reusable, testable backend code for core platform services.
- Enhance service scalability, resilience, performance, and code quality.
- Design and operate Kafka deployments, including topic design, partitioning, replication, retention, consumer groups, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Participate in requirements, architecture, coding, test automation, debugging, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and resolve performance and code quality issues, perform code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Security Engineering, internal engineering teams, and external partners.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support production deployments.
Requirements
- 2–10 years of experience in software engineering.
- Deep hands-on Kafka experience, including topic design, partitions, replication, retention, and consumer group behavior.
- Production experience operating Kafka, including performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- High proficiency with Unix/Linux platforms and strong experience with Python, Docker, and Terraform.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and high-performance, scalable distributed systems.
- Knowledge of application architecture, networking, security, reliability, and scalability concepts.
- Strong DevOps experience, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams.
- Preferred experience with AWS managed Kafka services such as AWS MSK and other managed cloud services such as Aurora and OpenSearch.
- Preferred familiarity with streaming or event-driven architectures, Kafka security using TLS, SASL, ACLs, or IAM-based authentication, schema management, and Kafka Connect.
- Preferred experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Linux file systems, memory, multithreading, and large-scale production deployments.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, networking, databases, servers, and storage.
