Base Salary
$175k - $195k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship backend services, APIs, data models, and workflows for production planning and execution.
- Define models for production, materials, inventory, resources, work, processes, constraints, and operational state.
- Build distributed systems that operate across cloud, factory, disconnected, and air-gapped deployments, including synchronization, reconciliation, and failure recovery.
- Integrate Crucible with PLM, ERP, quality, test, optimization, and other production systems.
- Improve performance, observability, testing, and failure handling for production-critical software.
- Partner with software leadership and architecture on service boundaries, data ownership, system interfaces, and technical direction.
- Review critical code and designs, improve development practices, and mentor or assist other engineers with difficult backend problems.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and shipping backend or distributed software in production.
- U.S. person required due to ITAR regulations.
- Strong backend software engineering fundamentals and sound judgment in selecting technologies and system designs.
- Strong experience with at least one modern backend language.
- Strong relational data modeling, API design, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience designing systems with complex state, workflows, consistency requirements, synchronization, or distributed state challenges.
- Experience operating and debugging production software.
- Ability to take ambiguous technical problems from design through deployment.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Preferred: production backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js, GraphQL, and Prisma or similar technologies.
- Preferred: experience with disconnected or intermittently connected systems; manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, ERP, or MES software; external enterprise or industrial integrations; or aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or other complex physical systems.
