Base Salary

$179k - $224k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures and solutions.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models for business intelligence, analytics, and reporting.
  • Design, build, optimize, and operate ETL processes and data pipelines from diverse sources.
  • Integrate APIs, databases, and third-party data into a unified data platform.
  • Evaluate, benchmark, and improve the scalability, robustness, latency, throughput, and performance of data platforms and applications.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation processes, monitoring, and governance frameworks across analytics and machine learning systems.
  • Monitor and manage production environments to deliver data within defined SLAs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders on technical vision, design, and planning.
  • Lead, document, and coordinate technical projects across teams.
  • Train and collaborate with teammates on data engineering best practices.
  • Recommend policy changes and establish department-wide procedures while resolving complex technical problems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building, maintaining, and orchestrating scalable data pipelines.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a data engineer working with Airflow or Python-based data pipeline codebases.
  • Experience with data integration patterns, backend software development, distributed computing, ETL performance optimization, and SQL query optimization.
  • Experience modeling data for OLTP and OLAP applications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, and familiarity with Airflow and cloud data warehouses such as Redshift.
  • Experience handling sensitive PHI and PII data and applying security best practices and data governance principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, analytical SQL, and MPP databases such as Redshift, BigQuery, and Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Knowledge of 3NF data modeling and tools such as ER/Studio or ERwin.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools, big data technologies, automated testing concepts, and software engineering best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and self-directed project leadership skills.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • Bonus qualifications include NoSQL database experience, internal framework or developer productivity tool development, data infrastructure and automation experience, and use of generative AI tools for engineering or data platform workflows.
