Responsibilities
- Lead backend development in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design, implement, and maintain integrations with external data sources.
- Build and maintain event-driven systems using Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Own and evolve the data layer, including PostgreSQL schema design.
- Work closely with the SRE team to maintain production environments.
- Triage and resolve production issues in collaboration with support teams.
- Rotate into a Base Load Engineer role for handling releases and updates.
- Support the frontend team in ensuring backend systems meet their needs.
- Align with cross-functional teams on project goals and API design.
- Participate in code reviews and security/privacy reviews.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend technologies.
- Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization.
- Experience deploying applications on GCP and AWS.
- Hands-on experience with observability tooling like OpenTelemetry and Sentry.
- Familiarity with Redis for caching and session management.
- Experience with Next.js, React, and SCSS.
- Knowledge of modern testing practices including unit and end-to-end testing.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
