Responsibilities
- Own technical decision-making by evaluating technology options, running proofs of concept and benchmarks, and recommending frameworks, datastores, infrastructure, partition strategies, migration plans, and performance approaches.
- Shape platform-level architecture for Kubernetes deployments, Kafka-based messaging, durable workflow orchestration, and multi-tenant data models.
- Serve as an embedded architecture partner for .NET product teams by reviewing designs and code, authoring and critiquing RFCs, and guiding scalability and cloud-readiness efforts.
- Mentor engineers across teams and improve engineering standards through GitOps, golden pipelines, observability, and supply-chain security practices.
- Assess on-premises products for scalability, performance, resiliency, code quality, interoperability, security, supported environments, and dependencies, then define SaaS migration paths.
- Partner with Product Management, Support, and Professional Services to incorporate customer and field issues into architecture recommendations.
- Produce C4 diagrams, RFCs, design reviews, benchmarks, and other architecture artifacts and present trade-offs to engineering leadership.
- Design, build, and improve microservices, backend systems, shared libraries, tooling, and examples for the SaaS platform.
- Apply API-first design, resilience patterns, and unit, integration, and performance testing, including careful review of AI-generated code.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, including experience with C#/.NET and strong architectural judgment.
- Working familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID, including domain services, LDAP, authentication protocols, and directory data models.
- Experience reasoning about Windows-centric on-premises products and dual on-premises/SaaS delivery constraints.
- Production Kubernetes experience covering service design, Helm/GitOps deployment, jobs, autoscaling, and multi-tenant SaaS operations.
- Distributed-data experience with partitioning, consistency trade-offs, high-volume ingestion/ETL, and query performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with a relational database at scale, such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server, plus exposure to an analytical or NoSQL store.
- Event-driven architecture experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies, along with API-first design and resilience/observability practices.
- Ability to produce RFCs and design documents and influence teams without direct management.
- Nice-to-have experience with Go, Azure, workflow engines such as Temporal, Spring Reactive, and identity security domains including ITDR, privileged access management, or identity governance.
