Responsibilities
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems using a microservice architecture.
- Build infrastructure solutions that improve development experience across the company and help engineering teams solve infrastructure problems.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain systems modeling logistics entities such as shippers, clients, cargo, documents, carriers, containers, and email.
- Collaborate with engineers, business partners, and product managers to turn complex problems into technical solutions.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally, with production releases occurring dozens of times per day.
- Maintain a high quality bar by monitoring metrics, anticipating issues, and applying post-mortem learnings across services.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software development experience and a strong engineering background.
- At least 2 years of design and architecture experience, with familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
- Knowledge of at least one of TypeScript, Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environments is preferred.
- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and operational issues is preferred.
- Familiarity with professional software engineering practices, source control, continuous deployments, testing, and operations is preferred.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDKTF, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AWS services including IAM, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and VPC is preferred.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring or observability tools is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize distributed systems and cloud deployments.
- Ability to learn quickly and communicate technical ideas to business partners, product managers, and engineers.
