Base Salary
$170k - $216k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build data-handling systems supporting GDPR, right-to-be-forgotten automation, and consent management for European riders.
- Develop and optimize computer vision and machine learning pipelines to detect and blur faces, license plates, and other personally identifiable information in camera and lidar data at the edge and in the cloud.
- Write scalable C++, Java, or Kotlin code enforcing retention policies, access controls, and data minimization across distributed infrastructure.
- Translate GDPR and regulations such as the EU Data & AI Act into engineering specifications and system requirements with Legal and Policy teams.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and threat modeling focused on cross-border data transfers and third-party vendor integrations.
- Collaborate with Legal, Product, and AI/ML teams to incorporate privacy by design into sensor data ingestion, mapping technologies, and rider experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of software engineering experience focused on privacy, security, or data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
- Deep understanding of GDPR.
- Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Flume or MapReduce and cloud infrastructure.
- Preferred: experience helping a US-based technology company launch products in the EEA or UK.
- Preferred: familiarity with privacy-preserving machine learning techniques including Differential Privacy, Federated Learning, or Homomorphic Encryption.
- Preferred: experience building first-class user-facing products.
