Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services in Java, Scala, and PHP for Box’s content ingress and egress flows.
- Develop scalable, reliable, maintainable architectures and model engineering best practices.
- Plan and execute projects and quarterly deliverables.
- Measure system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize services.
- Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and the on-call rotation.
- Drive technical direction and mentor other engineers while solving distributed-systems challenges at global scale.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of software development experience in distributed systems.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying high-quality software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a backend language such as Java or Scala.
- Experience building highly available and scalable distributed systems at large scale.
- Strong problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, ownership, and English communication skills.
