Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues while balancing risks and trade-offs.
- Support the operation and availability of team artifacts through metrics, escalation, keep-the-lights-on work, and on-call participation.
- Improve code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Have experience scaling technologies such as Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform.
- Have experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components and producing simple, extensible designs and high-quality code.
- Be proficient in making significant changes to large codebases and developing tools and practices that enable safe changes.
- Demonstrate ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Have either equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
