Base Salary
$238k - $302k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the evaluation rubric and roadmap for simulation realism in alignment with Waymo Driver product goals.
- Design mathematical frameworks to evaluate logical rules, physical dynamics, and generative AI model distributions.
- Architect large-scale, extensible distributed evaluation platforms in C++ and Python for petabytes of data.
- Ensure evaluation metric pipelines provide robust, clear, and reproducible signals.
- Partner with AI research and simulation teams to guide innovation and research roadmaps.
- Serve as a technical lead and bridge between engineering organizations and product strategy.
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience focused on complex data systems, evaluation platforms, or backend infrastructure.
- Expertise designing scalable systems with C++, Python, distributed computing, API design, and maintainability.
- Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks for complex systems or machine learning models.
- Ability to apply statistical approaches, including confidence intervals, to complex and non-deterministic systems.
- Experience creating technical strategies spanning multiple teams and translating product requirements into engineering problems.
- Preferred experience in autonomous vehicles, algorithmic trading, AdTech/search ranking, machine learning, or robotics.
- Preferred familiarity with validating generative AI systems such as LLMs and diffusion models or classical simulation systems such as agent-based models and heuristics.
- Preferred experience driving technical roadmaps for large-scale systems or validation frameworks.
- Preferred experience guiding a team or system through a major architectural shift.
