Base Salary
$150k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and test C firmware for WHOOP products, including low-power features.
- Own complex firmware features and ensure performance, power, reliability, and stability goals are met.
- Debug issues across software, hardware, manufacturing, and system integration.
- Write and maintain technical requirements and documentation and participate in code reviews.
- Design and improve firmware self-tests, validation tools, CI workflows, and internal development tools.
- Evaluate electrical components, bring up device drivers, and contribute to hardware design discussions.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Signal Processing, Mobile, Manufacturing, and Product teams to validate designs and refine interfaces.
- Mentor teammates and identify opportunities to improve firmware performance, power efficiency, stability, and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of embedded firmware development experience.
- Proficiency in C/C++, device driver development, and 32-bit RISC architectures such as ARM Cortex.
- Experience with operating systems, real-time operating systems, I2C, SPI, USART/UART, and BLE.
- Strong electronics debugging skills using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and logic analyzers.
- Ability to read schematics and hardware specifications and apply electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and unit, integration, and functional testing for embedded systems.
- Experience with Agile software development practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience mentoring teammates and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with high-volume consumer electronics products is preferred.
Benefits
- U.S. base salary range of $150,000–$215,000, plus equity and benefits.
- This is a full-time role based in WHOOP’s Boston, Massachusetts office, with relocation required if necessary.
- The role includes a generous equity package.
