Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.
- Build modular backend architectures using NestJS modules, controllers, services, dependency injection, guards, interceptors, pipes, and middleware.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, relationships, indexes, transactions, and Prisma ORM data access.
- Implement validation, centralized error handling, API documentation, authentication, authorization, JWT, RBAC, and permission-based access control.
- Implement Redis caching, asynchronous processing, messaging queues, background jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Integrate third-party APIs and external systems while handling authentication, rate limits, retries, timeouts, and failures.
- Optimize API performance, database access, resource utilization, and application scalability.
- Containerize applications with Docker and deploy backend services using Microsoft Azure.
- Implement structured logging, metrics, monitoring, distributed tracing, health checks, and other observability practices.
- Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, maintain documentation, and collaborate with frontend engineers and stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Prisma ORM, and Redis.
- Hands-on experience with NestJS modules, dependency injection, guards, interceptors, pipes, and exception filters.
- Strong understanding of REST API design, asynchronous programming, modular architecture, SOLID principles, clean code, concurrency, caching, database optimization, and scalability.
- Experience with DTOs, request validation, API contracts, pagination, filtering, API versioning, retries, backward compatibility, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, JWT, OAuth 2.0, RBAC, API security, rate limiting, and secure secrets management.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms and familiarity with Azure App Service, Azure Container Apps, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Service Bus, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Cache for Redis.
- Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, debugging, structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, health checks, and monitoring tools such as Application Insights or OpenTelemetry.
- Preferred experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design, clean architecture, advanced messaging patterns, idempotency, dead-letter queues, GraphQL, webhooks, WebSockets, API gateways, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, Azure Functions, SaaS platforms, multi-tenant systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Preferred familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, monorepos, shared libraries, and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, ownership, communication, and collaboration skills.
