Base Salary
$125k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and debug high-performance IPC and middleware primitives, including publish/subscribe, shared memory, serialization, discovery, and QoS.
- Improve latency, throughput, and determinism through profiling, tracing, benchmarking, and targeted optimization.
- Develop developer-facing APIs, tooling, and documentation for internal users.
- Deliver platform-ready components with observability, robust fault handling, and reproducible performance.
- Collaborate with platform OS, drivers, safety, controls, perception, and tooling teams on AV software.
- Apply code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, soak testing, performance gates, regression gates, and rollout/rollback discipline.
- Progressively take on more complex work spanning design, implementation, integration, and testing.
Requirements
- Recently completed a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Strong modern C++ 20/23 and Python development experience demonstrated through coursework, internships, research, or substantial projects.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, lock-free or low-contention patterns, and performance profiling.
- Hands-on experience with IPC or messaging systems and distributed-systems fundamentals such as serialization, backpressure, flow control, and QoS.
- Knowledge of Linux-based networking, including sockets, TCP/UDP, multicast, NICs, buffers, MTU, and packetization.
- Ability to debug complex software problems, reason about system behavior, and communicate clearly in a collaborative environment.
- Interest in autonomous vehicles, robotics, embedded systems, or high-performance software.
- Preferred experience with ROS 2, DDS, gRPC, Protobuf, FlatBuffers, Cap’n Proto, zero-copy techniques, real-time Linux, or autonomous-driving, robotics, embedded, AI/ML infrastructure, or platform software projects.
- Preferred degree completion between December 2025 and August 2026 with availability to begin employment in 2026.
