Responsibilities

  • Define and drive architecture for a distributed data platform supporting real-time, streaming, and batch workloads.
  • Lead the design of data lifecycle management, metadata systems, orchestration, and developer-facing APIs.
  • Build platform capabilities that improve data reliability, consistency, discoverability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Introduce automation and AI-assisted workflows for diagnostics, validation, remediation, and operational resilience.
  • Establish observability, SLOs, failure handling, and production excellence practices.
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive platform adoption, standardization, and evolution.
  • Mentor senior engineers and raise engineering and architectural standards.

Requirements

  • Approximately 10–15+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure, or data platforms.
  • Experience operating at Staff+ or Principal level and leading complex, cross-team technical initiatives.
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including scalability, fault tolerance, data consistency, and performance.
  • Experience with high-scale streaming systems, event-driven architectures, or real-time data processing.
  • Hands-on experience building platform services for real-time and offline workloads.
  • Proficiency in systems programming with Java, Python, or Go.
  • Experience running production systems with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with automation or AI-assisted systems and sound judgment about their use.
  • Strong communication and ability to influence across a broad engineering organization.
