Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks and end-to-end regression suites using TypeScript and Playwright.
- Write automation for unit, integration, API, functional end-to-end, performance, and testing-pyramid validation needs.
- Validate edge cases, error conditions, happy paths, backend APIs, integration layers, and platform defects.
- Diagnose automation failures and distributed backend defects using logs, API console data, and Datadog monitoring patterns.
- Manage and optimize automated test data flows using PostgreSQL and other platform data stores.
- Create test strategies, automation runbooks, technical documentation, and detailed defect reports.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, QA Analysts, and DevOps during Agile sprints to estimate validation effort and manage dependencies.
- Participate in application and test-suite code reviews and uphold engineering quality conventions.
- Help define department-wide QA expectations, including coverage ownership, AI governance, automation boundaries, and documentation standards.
- Coach and pair with QA Analysts and help shift manual regression work toward automated coverage.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in software test automation, systems validation, or backend engineering in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- Strong programming experience with TypeScript or a comparable scripting language and practical experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, including prompting, reusable skills or custom instructions, and verification of generated output.
- Deep knowledge of Fowler’s Testing Pyramid and hands-on experience with API, functional end-to-end, and performance testing.
- Experience coaching or upskilling testers or engineers with limited automation experience.
- Ability to independently debug distributed backend microservices by parsing logs and using enterprise monitoring platforms such as Datadog.
- Familiarity with validating RabbitMQ message queues, Neo4j graph databases, or Redis distributed caching layers is preferred.
- Experience validating multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications and verifying data isolation, availability, and security compliance is preferred.
- Experience with GitLab Ultimate, SonarQube, or Wiz is preferred.
- Experience building or maintaining lightweight test-coverage reports or dashboards is preferred.
