Responsibilities
- Design and build agent planning and execution runtimes with tool calling, state management, durable execution, failure recovery, coordination, and handoffs.
- Build reusable primitives and configurable production agents for domain workflows.
- Integrate agents with platform APIs and third-party enterprise systems, including retrieval and permission-aware context pipelines.
- Implement human-in-the-loop approval gates, override capture, uncertainty handling, evidence presentation, and feedback-driven improvement.
- Build evaluation harnesses for multi-step agent behavior and define metrics for quality, reliability, latency, cost, and human intervention.
- Implement guardrails, fallbacks, timeouts, cost ceilings, observability, tracing, prompt-evolution controls, and defenses against prompt injection, unsafe tool use, excessive permissions, and data leakage.
- Build and operate backend services on AWS and contribute to system architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment pipelines.
- Own significant parts of the architecture and production systems end to end.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including production systems.
- Experience building production LLM systems with tool-using or multi-step agentic workflows beyond simple prompting and chat interfaces.
- Strong understanding of LLM behavior, limitations, and failure modes across multi-step runs.
- Experience with LLM APIs, tool and function calling, and planning and execution loops.
- Experience evaluating and debugging non-deterministic systems.
- Solid backend and cloud experience with AWS or an equivalent platform.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
- Comfort debugging distributed and non-deterministic systems and balancing accuracy, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Ability to work in ambiguous problem spaces, own production systems end to end, and choose conventional software when AI is not appropriate.
- Preferred experience with C#, Microsoft .NET Framework, MCP and related interop protocols, agentic evaluation pipelines, regulated or domain-heavy systems, retrieval and grounding, workflow and durable-execution platforms, containerization and orchestration, and infrastructure as code.
