Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and teams building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture and long-term technology direction.
- Define platform roadmaps and shared-services strategy with architects and product leaders.
- Build robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Mentor engineering team members and support professional development.
- Establish coding standards, design patterns, architecture practices, and enterprise-wide technical standards.
- Use observability and reliability practices to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks.
- Lead cross-functional engineering efforts and large-scale technical initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: 9 or more years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.
- Preferred experience includes open-source frameworks, front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, synchronous and asynchronous APIs, databases, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, and cloud troubleshooting.
- Preferred experience includes mentoring senior engineers, observability, architectural design reviews, coding standards, reliability practices, technology strategy, and cross-functional engineering leadership.
- Experience with modern AI-based coding tools, IDE copilots, and interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.

- Annual base salary varies by location: Chicago, IL $209,000-$238,500; McLean, VA $229,900-$262,400.
