Base Salary
$191k - $239k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build network automation and orchestration systems for global network infrastructure.
- Develop software for network provisioning, configuration management, device lifecycle management, validation, monitoring, and automated remediation.
- Build systems integrating DPUs, SmartNICs, and programmable network infrastructure.
- Develop automation for datacenter and Point of Presence deployments, network fabrics, routing infrastructure, new hardware, and vendor integrations.
- Create abstractions across network vendors and hardware implementations while maintaining operational safety and reliability.
- Build diagnostic tools and automate repetitive or error-prone network and infrastructure workflows.
- Establish technical direction, engineering standards, architectural decisions, RFCs, and technical documentation for major initiatives.
- Lead ambiguous, high-impact projects from design through implementation, deployment, and long-term operation.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across engineering teams.
- Evaluate emerging hardware and software technologies and identify opportunities for infrastructure acceleration and automation.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing and building production software systems at scale.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, concurrency, testing, observability, and system reliability.
- Strong programming experience in one or more of Go, Python, or C++.
- Experience building automation, orchestration, or infrastructure platforms.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, VLANs, routing, switching, and network telemetry.
- Experience with network devices, network automation frameworks, APIs, or vendor SDKs.
- Experience designing systems that operate safely in highly available production environments.
- Ability to simplify complex infrastructure problems into scalable software architectures.
- Strong technical writing skills, including RFCs, architecture documents, technical proposals, project plans, and documented requirements.
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical proposals, architectural decisions, and implementation plans.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
- Ability to operate as a technical leader without relying on organizational authority.
- Experience with DPUs, SmartNICs, IPUs, programmable data planes, eBPF, P4, SONiC, OpenConfig, gNMI, NETCONF, YANG, streaming telemetry, Kubernetes, cloud-native infrastructure, network validation, or open-source infrastructure projects is valuable.
- Experience with hyperscale or cloud infrastructure, white-box networking, multiple network vendors, or 400G+ datacenter networks is a plus.
