Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems.
- Deliver new features and drive projects from ideation through customer-facing operations.
- Own system reliability, performance, and availability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team’s scope.
- Participate in design discussions, support teammates, and collaborate in a remote environment.
- Develop deeper expertise in Grafana Cloud, its customers, and large distributed systems.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, while Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar experience is transferable.
- Some experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers independently.
- Some experience developing cloud software or working in systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Strong collaboration, communication, customer focus, pragmatism, and self-directed working ability.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker is a bonus.
- Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles is a bonus.
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems is a bonus.
- Familiarity with on-call work, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is a bonus.
