Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of gameplay programmers and serve as the primary communication hub across disciplines.
  • Translate high-level feature requests into actionable work items and delegate effectively.
  • Deliver core gameplay features efficiently and identify when work is over- or under-scoped.
  • Lead the vision for gameplay systems and features while writing code and performing system design as needed.
  • Propose and review technical designs, systems, and implementation approaches.
  • Collaborate with art, design, production, and other programming teams to integrate systems and deliver strong player experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience developing gameplay physics systems, including simulation, collision, and character or vehicle physics.
  • Experience with network replication systems such as client-server prediction, state synchronization, and lag compensation.
  • A proven record delivering live-service games or AAA MMO titles built on Unreal Engine.
  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing programming teams on shipped AAA titles.
  • Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and design gameplay mechanics and tools.
  • Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code to improve development workflows.
