Responsibilities
- Design and build enterprise application enhancements by analyzing existing systems, interpreting code, and applying scripting tools.
- Develop performant, scalable, production-ready software components against design specifications.
- Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities through security analysis, testing, and debugging.
- Serve as the primary technical authority for senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and analysts and share technical knowledge.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to restore application stability.
- Evaluate technology decisions against risk and compliance standards and escalate control issues.
- Performance-tune high-volume enterprise transaction processing systems for reliability, scalability, and recovery.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science at graduate or postgraduate level.
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise applications in the cards and payments domain.
- Proficiency in Core Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RHEL OpenShift, or IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2 in SYSPLEX or CICSPLEX environments.
- Experience building microservices architectures and integrating API gateways, RESTful or SOAP web services, and Open APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD pipeline tooling, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and delivery in iterative team environments.
- Experience performance-tuning complex, high-volume enterprise transaction processing systems.
- Beneficial experience modernizing mainframe applications and integrating legacy systems with event-driven, distributed, or cloud-native architectures.
- Exposure to Kafka or Solace and databases including DB2, Oracle, and MongoDB.
- Practical experience embedding AI and prompt engineering tools into engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with the cards and payments industry and transaction-processing trends.
- Experience delivering within large geographically distributed Agile teams using Scrum.
