Responsibilities
- Deliver major features and architectural improvements across automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.
- Build and maintain Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.
- Create internal developer platforms and tools that help engineering teams safely develop, deploy, observe, and operate production software.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and declarative infrastructure and pipeline-as-code practices.
- Establish observability, monitoring, metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
- Contribute to production readiness, testing, recoverability, runbooks, incident response, on-call practices, and safe deployment standards.
- Debug complex production issues across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineers, reviewers, developer support, designers, product managers, QA, leadership, and community contributors.
- Provide peer feedback, mentor colleagues, write technical documentation, and contribute through open-source-style discussions and reviews.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python/Django.
- Experience operating and improving production software systems where reliability and safe delivery matter.
- Strong experience with CI/CD systems and declarative pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience designing or improving automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.
- Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
- Experience building or maintaining internal tools or platforms used by engineering teams.
- Experience improving engineering practices such as code review, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, and definitions of done.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and trace application behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
- Strong technical writing, collaboration, communication, and peer-mentoring skills.
- Bonus qualifications include Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code tooling, SLO and error-budget practices, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, production readiness reviews, trust and safety systems, automated moderation, abuse prevention, and open-source contributions.
