Base Salary
$150k - $226k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical backend software in Java.
- Create functional specifications and design documents for new features.
- Own key system components and their delivered quality.
- Design and implement scalable backend solutions for distributed computing environments.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system and production issues.
- Perform peer reviews of specifications, designs, and code.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams on deployments and production support.
- Work in iterative development cycles with short customer feedback and release cycles.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience developing highly scalable, distributed applications, products, and backend services using Java.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of how distributed, resilient software is built and deployed.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and systems-analysis skills.
- Experience working in short release cycles and quality-conscious engineering environments.
- Experience with SQL query tuning and performance optimization is a plus.
- Experience with search frameworks such as Elasticsearch or Solr is a plus.
- Experience with applications hosted on AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD processes is a plus.
