Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded Linux user-space daemons and services for process management, event handling, polling, monitoring, and file synchronization.
- Develop the Insight CloudAgent, ConfigAgent, and DiscoveryAgent subsystems, including REST API handlers, device-to-cloud communication, SSL/TLS integration, and the Network Abstraction Layer.
- Maintain the Cisco IOS-style CLI framework and configuration database engine for startup-config and running-config persistence.
- Develop and maintain legacy jQuery-based and newer Bootstrap-based web management interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Implement and maintain SNMP MIB support for SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 network management integration.
- Write tests, validate firmware on physical switch hardware, and debug using serial console, SSH debug shell, packet captures, and log analysis.
- Contribute to test automation, code reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, and documentation across distributed engineering teams.
- Use AI coding agents for code generation, debugging, testing, feature delivery, and documentation.
Requirements
- B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech/M.E. in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of professional experience in embedded or systems software development.
- Proficiency in C programming on Linux, including user-space applications, shared libraries, and IPC mechanisms such as sockets, shared memory, and signals.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, Ethernet, ARP, and DHCP, with the ability to use Wireshark or tcpdump for packet-level debugging.
- Experience with REST API development in C, embedded HTTP servers, or SSL/TLS integration.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for web-based interfaces.
- Experience with GNU Make and cross-compilation for ARM or MIPS embedded targets.
- Comfort working with Git, including branching, merging, and submodules, in a multi-developer environment.
- Active daily use of AI coding assistants or agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Cline.
- Preferred experience with embedded Linux networking products such as switches, routers, access points, or gateways.
- Preferred familiarity with SNMP, net-snmp, MIB development, or CLI framework development.
- Preferred experience implementing L2 networking protocols such as STP, LLDP, IGMP, or LACP.
- Preferred experience with cloud-device integration using REST and JSON-based configuration.
- Preferred exposure to Docker-based build environments or CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred experience debugging resource-constrained embedded targets using serial console, remote GDB, or core dumps.
- Preferred familiarity with agentic engineering concepts and AI agents for code generation, test creation, and iterative development.
